Barbara moved down to Wales in her early teens and we soon became class mates and good friends. Her sense of adventure and daring was a total contrast to my own and her wicked sense of humor would find us in trouble at school, oddly enough on one occasion during a cookery class!! She was a good cross country runner and also liked hockey. We spent many a Sunday cycling to various local places and I was lucky enough to have her company when my parents and I went caravaning down to Somerset where we watched the hand gliding championships that year. Many of her weekends were spent busily waitresing at the Lamb Inn which was just a stone's throw from where she lived - that's where her catering career started. Due to our different career paths we lost touch but got back in touch during the last few years. She was a true friend and someone you could rely on, something that stood with her throughout her life. I really can't quite believe that she's no longer with us, and I feel deeply for Brian and her family. She was a true gem and I know that I am not alone when I say that my life was richer for having known her. Babs, you will forever be in my thoughts. xxx
